Boar
Boar Pursuivant is a deputy to Lions Blood Herald and is responsible for data entry, putting together the ILoI (Internal Letter of Intent) in An Tir’s portion of the OSCAR system. ILoIs are issued once per month between the 15th and 20th of the month; Boar can work on the document throughout the month or all at once prior to the deadline, as long as the task is completed in a timely fashion. In general, there will be one last check of the PO box around the 15th of the month, so there will usually be a least a couple submissions that need to be entered promptly.
This position does not require knowledge of heraldry. It is, however, an excellent entry point for individuals interested in how heraldry submissions are processed. Those interested in being Lions Blood at some point are especially encouraged to apply for Boar.
This position requires:
- Between 10 and 20 hours/month depending on size of letter and your skill level.
- Regular internet and computer access, including a DropBox account.
- Good communication and time management skills, including ability to meet regular, recurring deadlines.
- Attention to detail, and good proofreading abilities.
- Ability to receive and learn from feedback.
- Discretion and ability to maintain confidentiality, as submission forms may include submitters’ personal information.
Beneficial, but not required:
- Some rudimentary knowledge of HTML tags (basic text formatting in particular).
- Some knowledge of heraldic submissions process & standards.
- Access to and knowledge of a basic image editing program (ability to rotate and crop jpgs) - e.g. Paint (Microsoft Windows), Preview (Mac OS).
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Review and rename scans of paper submission forms per Lions Blood policy, including copying and cropping armory forms.
- Enter relevant information from submission documents into the OSCAR system to prepare ILoIs.
- Communicate regularly with Lions Blood regarding the status of the letter in progress, any issues or concerns, and upcoming deadlines.
