Blue Anchor

Effective today, the office of Blue Anchor Herald is accepting applications until 21 June 2017, with a decision planned shortly thereafter.

Blue Anchor Herald is a deputy to Black Lion Principal Herald, responsible for the College's public and internal websites and associated technologies.

This is an infrastructure position with expected interaction with Kingdom IT as well as members of the kingdom heraldic staff, to implement websites and tools in a coherent, accessible, and maintainable design that serves the needs of staff, branch officers, heralds-at-large, and populace.

Time requirement:

There is no specified time requirement associated with this office. However, planned redesign and rearchitecture should prove to be more time-intensive than day-to-day (or even month-to-month) requests from staff.

This position requires:

Trustworthiness in site administration
Excellent communication skills, diplomacy, discretion
Good overall customer service skills for interacting with both technical and non-technical staff as well as Kingdom IT
Consistent and reliable internet and computer access, including an internet browser
Knowledge of website design, HTML and CSS
Sound usability and accessibility experience: UX for lay-persons and those with physical impairments, while presenting an aesthetically pleasing overall experience

Desireable skills include:

Sharepoint and Office 365, including any of Microsoft Planner, Microsoft Video, Microsoft Stream, and Microsoft Flow
PHP
MySQL
XML and XSLT
JavaScript
Git and Visual Studio Online
Prior experience designing accessible UX
Ability to analyze a codebase and replicate functionality in other technologies
Familiarity with typing text (names in particular) which involve the international character set

Duties & Responsibilities:

Coordinate with Kingdom IT to discover and resolve hosting issues, including domain name registration and server failures. It is expected that domain name and server ownership will ultimately be assumed by Kingdom IT in the near term.
Coordinate with Black Lion and staff, as well as other kingdom stakeholders (eg, Crown, Seneschal, Chatelaine, Lists) to determine and integrate desired content and functionality in a clear, aesthetically-pleasing, and maintainable manner
Communicate with Black Lion regarding issues in satisfying requests, or ideas for expanding website capabilities
Other duties and projects as assigned
